When Spirit has a message they want me to convey to you, they are quite persistent. For several weeks now, I have been hearing “Let go and let God.” Selfishly, I thought it was only a message for me to decipher in relation to some of my life challenges lately. Then, yesterday when I was insistently awakened with the tune of “Let It Go” from the Disney movie “Frozen” playing loudly and repeatedly in my head, followed up by a few other serendipitous messages throughout the morning, I finally understood that the message is for all of us. Ideally, as we near the end of the year, it is time to take stock of our path, our purpose, our ambitions, and reboot, redirect or renew for the new year. Many see the new year as an opportunity for a fresh start or for getting back on path. Hence the tradition often observed by many as well as in some religions, of making New Year’s resolutions – an annual time of reflection and moving towards self improvement.
In order to do that, we often need to let go of the old to make room for the new.
Have you been feeling the need to declutter or even regift some things you have had around but have never used? Have you been restless about completing some projects? Do you feel like you have come to an end of a cycle in your life? Is your focus shifting to new priorities? Are you ready to leave or shift a relationship that no longer is in your best interest? Are you recognizing some beliefs that you hold no longer feel true to you? If you have been experiencing any of this, it is because now is the time to let go of what you no longer need in our life; of what no longer serves you, to make room for the new.
According to numerology, this month of December has been a nine month. Nine is the number that supports releasing, completing, wrapping up and letting go. This month has been a perfect time to clear out and prepare for what comes next. January of 2023 is an eight month which means it is the most opportune month for manifesting; for bringing in the new. We are also heading into a seven year which will be a year to go inward and reflect and focus on who and what we are. It will be a time to trust your intuition, to connect more with Spirit for a deeper understanding of our purpose and how we can align with it to achieve happiness.
In addition to making room for the new, what other reasons are there for us to “let it go”? Often when we hear songs repeatedly (even in your head in the middle of the night!) it is because the lyrics have a message for us. When I look back over the year, Spirit has been bringing me that message for a long time through my sweet three year old granddaughter who often asks Google home to play the song “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen so she can sing along, twirling in a dance of sheer delight. I have heard several interpretations of the song and the character, Princess Elsa, who sings it. Each person will have an interpretation that holds meaning for them. I would like to share with you, my interpretation. What I hear, is a message about Elsa breaking free from hiding who she really is and acknowledging her true self. “…The wind is howling like the swirling storm inside
Couldn’t keep it in. Heaven knows I’ve tried
Don’t let them in. Don’t let them see.
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know
Well now they know
Let it go, let it go
Can’t hold it back any more…”
She gains a new perspective to release the fear of being her true self and showing that to others:
“It’s funny how some distance
Makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me
Can’t get to me at all.”
When we are finally true to our authentic self, versus trying to live up to the expectations and judgements of others, we feel free. Elsa frees herself from the judgement of others:
“It’s time to see what I can do
To test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me
I’m free”
This concept of letting go to become more of our true self also aligns with the angel messages from Radleigh Valentine for this past week in his Energetic Weather Report which included:
Christmas Day being a day where we allow our wishes to be fulfilled
Prioritizing self care and letting people help us (not judge us)
Being honest with ourselves, accepting our truth
Our prayers are being received by the Divine and answers will come soon (perhaps the help you need to let go and what you wish to soon manifest)
Having no fear, freeing ourselves from disquieting feelings that are holding us back
Being a light to others, shining our light on the world so others can learn from us
Is it time for you to release yourself from others’ expectations and manifest the freedom of being your true self? Do you need a change for you to live a life that makes you consistently happy? For me, I know that as I have been exploring and expanding my Spiritual practices and gifts, Spirit has been gently guiding me over the last year, through intuitive messages, encouragement from friends and family, serendipitous events, and my sweet singing granddaughter, to let go of any fear of others not “approving” of this “new part of me.” I have come to realize that Spirit has been patiently supporting me to expand my gifts and offer my services to others, reassuring me that there are people waiting for the assistance I have to offer. The more I work with my gifts, the happier I am. I feel free in an exciting new way and I know the Universe has my back.
I am learning that an important thing to remember in “letting go” is to release things that no longer serve us so that we can allow ourselves to enter into a better reality that brings us peace and joy as we come closer to living our true purpose. We are meant to experience a joyful life. The reason is simply explained by a quote from Abraham-Hicks that I ran across this week. Abraham is a group of non-physical entities channelled by Esther Hicks. The messages are widely known as the Abraham-Hicks teachings which are about the law of attraction - that our thoughts manifest our reality. Here is a message that I believe helps us understand why it is important to let go of what no longer serves us:
“And we say, nothing is more important than that you feel good, because when you feel good you are resonating with your greater power. When you feel good, and only when you feel good, are you here doing that which you came to do. When you feel good, that means you’ve chosen thoughts that vibrate at a frequency that is bringing things to you that you want. Nice to know, isn’t it?” (Source: Abraham-Hicks, San Antonio, TX 5/24/91)
In the book The 4 Biggest Mistakes That Keep You From Living a Miraculous Life by Marci Shimoff, Dr Sue Morter, and Lisa Garr, the authors talk about living a life where you feel that you are in a joyful positive flow of energy, a life where you can experience miracles every day. They say that the first step to moving into a miraculous life is “letting go.”
But what if you can’t come up with any ideas of what you need to let go of? Simply ask for help. Ask your inner self, your Angels, and Guides. Sit quietly and ask the question “What no longer serves me?” Then journal the first thing that comes to mind. That is your answer. Or ask in prayer or meditation. Use whatever method is most comfortable for you. Be honest with yourself. Trust the messages that you receive.
Sometimes deciding what you need to let go of and actually “letting it go” is difficult or confusing. Here are a few more things that might be helpful.
Physical Items:
Start with decluttering your physical space. Shimoff, Morter and Garr say that the best place to start moving out what no longer serves you to make room for the new, is with removing physical things. Everything is energy so by decluttering physical items it makes it easier to then remove the non-physical things such as beliefs and relationships.
To help you start to declutter, consider:
Do you have items that you have not used in a long time that could be of better use
to others?
Do you have food or medication that is outdated or stale?
Are there things that are no longer functional (like dried up pens) or that have been waiting for repair for eons that in your heart you know they will never work again?
Are you hanging onto something because someone else likes it and you value their opinion? Does it hold a memory that keeps you in the past?
Are you keeping something out of guilt even though it has no use for you?
Ask yourself “Does this make me feel good?” If not, then perhaps it is time to “let it go.” Shimoff, Morter and Garr recommend that if you are uncertain, hold the item over your heart and ask yourself if you want to bring the energy of that item into your future. Honor the answer you hear from your intuition.
3. Shimoff, Morter and Garr suggest a process where you let go of 27 objects a day for 9 days. If you skip a day, you need to start over at day 1.
4. Honor the items you are releasing and thank them for having served you in the past. Then let them go, to others or to the trash.
Thoughts, Feelings, Beliefs:
Envision the life you want to be living, the life that brings you joy. Then ask yourself what is standing in your way. Journal the answers to these questions:
What thoughts or beliefs do you hold that are stopping you from moving forward?
What beliefs do you hold and may not even consciously be aware of, that cause anxiety or worry for you about moving forward?
Many of us created false belief systems when we were children in an effort to cope with or understand a difficult situation or experience. For example, were you raised in a home where the rule was “children should be seen and not heard”? Were you told to be quiet when you expressed your needs or opinions? Were you expected to do what you were told to do by your parents or other adults in your life? Some of this might have kept you safe from a perceived danger but other things may have not been reasonable but still set up an ingrained belief that you have nothing important to say. As an adult then, you may miss out on job opportunities or relationships because you can’t speak up. You believe that you have nothing important to say.
Do those false beliefs give rise to fears? Do you have fears that stop you from letting go? Fears of failure? Fears of another person or circumstance stopping you? Fear of all the “what if’s,” the worse case scenarios? Fear of leaving the security of a relationship? Or fear of the consequences of leaving a relationship?
What else is standing in your way? Do you believe you are not worthy of the life you want? Not smart enough? Will never have enough money? That you need others’ approval to be happy? Do you have relationships where you don’t feel good? Can you allow yourself to feel good? To feel joy? Not feeling worthy of feeling good or having good things happen in your life is rooted in a lack of self love. If we remember that the Universe brings to us what we send out, then how can we attract love and a good life if we don’t love ourselves, if we don’t feel worthy?
We are no longer children and we don’t need those false belief systems that are often the root of fear or anxiety or feeling unworthy so it is time to let them go. Shimoff suggests a process where you scan your body to find where you hold emotional discomfort, where that belief system or lack of self love might be held– perhaps a constricted throat or a tight sensation in your stomach. Once you have located that area, put your hand over it and send it love. You can say, “Thank you. I love you” or even repeat the Ho’oponopono prayer we talked about in the Dec 14 Ripple Effect Newsletter – The Greatest Gift. As you repeat this to yourself, the sensation may decrease or increase – either is a sign that you are healing that belief, you are “letting it go.” This sounds like a simple process but it can take work over a period of time to truly integrate self love, to truly feel it in your heart. It may help to remember that we are all creations from Source which is pure love and therefor so are we. You ARE loveable and you deserve good things. You deserve joy in your life. You deserve to manifest miracles. You can also ask your Guides and Angels for help. Archangel Michael is particularly good at helping us release any attachments to things, people, places, thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and situations that no longer serve us.
Remember that once you know what you need to release, you must follow through with taking action; perhaps implementing some of the strategies mentioned above. If you are stuck, ask others for help. Ask Spirit to give you the energy, strength and resolve to follow through. If you have hesitations or lapses in your plan, be gentle with yourself. Everything happens for a reason. Accept the pause. Pay attention to any additional messages. Perhaps you were planning to donate that old chair to a charity but suddenly you learn that a niece is moving out on her own and needs furniture. Or perhaps you are planning to end a relationship, but when you have experienced an unexpected pause in your plan, that person announces to you that they are moving away and takes the first step in ending the relationship. So don’t get discouraged if you experience a pause or setback. There is usually a reason in your best interest so go with the flow and trust that the Universe always has your back. As the saying goes, “Let go and let God.”
Once you have let go what no longer serves you, you have room to bring in the new. To bring more good things into your life, in addition to being true to yourself, envision those good things coming to you. If you are unsure of what you want to bring in, ask Archangel Uriel for assistance. He is the Archangel of epiphanies. Let go of any negative thoughts about what you want to bring in, what you want to manifest. If you have a negative thought, let it go and replace it with a positive one. For example, if you want to have improved health, do not think or say, “I don’t want to be sick anymore.” Instead describe what you DO want such as “I will experience perfect health.” Then, recall a time when you experienced feelings of love and joy. Hold those feelings in your heart when you envision the changes you want in your life. To have more of those experiences, Abraham-Hicks suggests that every time you are thinking about something or considering doing something, stop and ask yourself “I want to feel good. How does this fit in with that?” Then only follow through if it feels good.
A further note about feeling good – more wisdom to consider from Abraham-Hicks:
“And what you will discover is there are many things that you are moving forward in out of habit that are not in harmony with you wanting to feel good, and that is what is
causing negative attraction. It’s not because you’re bad, it’s not because you’re stupid, its not because you don’t know better, it’s because you’re thinking thoughts that don’t harmonize with what makes you feel good. It is as simple as that.
It’s a big issue, feeling good, isn’t it? Do you know that there are a whole bunch of people around that don’t think its all right to feel good? They’ve been convinced that feeling good is frivolous, childlike, and that you should grow up. “Grow up and feel bad,” they say. “Grow up, feel bad, face the facts, look at reality, and then you die.””
So yes, you deserve to, and can live, a life free to be true to yourself and feel good about it. Would you like to move closer to your truth and purpose experiencing more joy, freedom, and miracles in 2023? Then start now. It is not too late to “let it go” and let the new in. Start manifesting right away!
Lots of love and hugs,
Marilyn
